Responsible Tourism
Cultural Encounters is dedicated to ensuring that tourism has a positive social and environmental impact in South Africa. Our implementation of Responsible Tourism principles is multi-faceted, and includes:
- promoting and giving preference to facilities with a proven track record in implementing Responsible Tourism principles (see Accommodation options)
- involving and fairly remunerating local guides and storytellers
- using local services such as restaurants
- bringing visitors in contact with local craft businesses and organisations which they may choose to support
- providing mentorship and access to networks to guides, enterprises and community-based organisations we work with.
